As one of the authors of the Agile Manifesto, I am delighted to see this book by Mike Griffiths. It is great that such an exam guide was prepared by someone with a deep understanding of both project management and Agile development. Personally, I hope that everyone reads this book, not just to pass the PMI-ACP exam, but to learn Agile development safely and effectively!

This is a VERY enjoyable book to read, due to Mike's firm grasp of the underlying concepts of Agile, and his articulate and entertaining writing style. My favorite part is the fact that it is organized into a framework that helps all of the Agile concepts hang together, so they will be easier to recall when taking the PMI-ACP exam. But Mike's book is more than just the best PMI-ACP prep book out there. It is also the best consolidated source of Agile knowledge, tools, and techniques available today.

About the Author
Mike Griffiths is a world-renowned project manager, trainer, consultant and writer, holding multiple project management and Agile-related certifications. Mike was on the original PMI-ACP Steering Committee, which defined the agile-related knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to be tested by the PMI-ACP exam. He is also currently helping to create the new PMBOK Guide, as well as the Software Extension to the PMBOK Guide.
Mike frequently presents at PMI Global Congress conferences, and teaches a 2-day Agile Project Management course for the Project Management Institute (PMI) as part of their traveling Seminars World program. He also helped start the PMI Agile Community of Practice, which is now the largest PMI community in existence.
Mike helped create the agile method DSDM (Dynamic Systems Development Method) and has been using agile methods including FDD, Scrum and XP for the last 17 years. Mike also served on the Board of Directors for the Agile Alliance and the Agile Project Leadership Network (APLN). In addition to extensive Agile methods experience, Mike is very active in traditional project management, holding both the PMP and PRINCE2 certifications.

Passed on my first try!!!

I read the PMI-ACP Exam Prep book by Mike Griffiths to prepare for the test--it was literally the only thing I used. Reading this is like having the author speak directly to you, in a casual and often humorous tone. For someone--me!--who can get bored easily with technical writing, this book was a HUGE relief. Plus, the author was on the PMI committee that originally created the ACP certification. I don't know how other books compare, but I don't know why you would even bother looking at anything else.
The exercises were one of the biggest aides for me--they really solidified the concepts in my mind. I read through the entire book, doing all the exercises, and I felt TOTALLY prepared. My suggestion would be to not waste your time studying with a bunch of materials from different points of view. Read this one book and be done! I should know--I took the PMI-ACP test a few weeks ago and passed!
I also have to disagree with the negative review about the small font and wide margins because I took lots of notes, which I wouldn't have been able to comfortably do without those wider margins.

Highly recommend this book to help you prepare for the PMI-ACP exam

I highly recommend this book to help you prepare for the PMI-ACP exam. Mike was part of the committee who created the exam therefore has a deep understanding of the framework of the exam.
The exam is based on 11 core books. I am often asked "Do I need to read all 11 books?" All of the books that have been selected by the committee are excellent on their own and I would encourage you to read them. To help you focus on the exam, Mike's exam prep book covers the key pieces of each book. In addition Mike covers the PMI's Professional Responsibility and Ethics, and how to prepare for the exam which is not covered in the 11 core books.
While creating an PMI-ACP exam prep course, I read other prep guides. I believe Mike's book will stay relevant as exam questions are added to the database of questions. Other guides provided good coverage of the initial pilot set of questions, but may not fully prepare you as the exam evolves.

Griffiths' wraps it all Up

Reviewing this book now in the context of the 11 books the Project Management Institute (PMI) originally recommended reading to prepare for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) exam and as a PMI-ACP instructor. Our first course actually was developed from the 11 books and predated the issuing of this tome by RMC Training. Having gone on that personal journey Griffiths' book remains a source of amazement as he neatly binds together so many complex project management concepts and succeeds in covering many topics missed or sparsely covered in the original 11 book, 4,500 page reading recommendation to sit for the PMI-ACP Certification.
This book is the optimal study guide for the certification exam. Strongly recommend buying the entire exam system including the flash cards and the pass track exam system to assure you pass the test. Also note that early in this book Griffiths holds forth on the content of the original 11. Interestingly the authors of the original 11 write forwards for Griffiths. Their assertion that this book stands alone as a great Agile project management resource is clearly true. Buy it even if you have not interest in the test but want to "see Agile".
