Great lessons for starting a successful consulting career

An essential guide to consulting soft skills

A very good introductory book to consulting. Having been in strategy consulting myself for 5 years, I feel this book provides a great overview to the necessary soft skills and behavior junior consultants need to develop. As graduates in consulting usually bring very good hard skills, i.e., technical knowledge from uni with them, they underestimate the social dynamics and the soft challenges consulting poses to everyday live. In this respect, the author provides background on how and why typical situations in consulting occur, encourages to reflect from a third person perspective to build and understanding and provides useful initial suggestions in how to deal with them.
Many other consulting books focus on consulting technical skills, e.g., frameworks, project management, sales, but less so on the dynamics of the consulting every day live. As such, this is a useful and highly recommended addition to the bookshelf of every soon-to-be consultant and junior consultants.
