You can't go wrong with Lionel

It is a very nicely done book, the pictures, diagrams, and charts are colorful and easy to read

The material is summarized so no long paragraphs to read, everything is in bullet format

If you want even more value from this book, find the Becker eCoach lectures online and listen along with Lionel as he breaks down Pharm for the USMLE Step 1

But my favorite part of the book is the type of paper used is excellent. Not glossy at all so no smudging of even the most runny pens and pretty thick so no bleed thru.

For $60 it is a pretty solid investment considering it comes from the god of pharmacology himself Lionel Raymon

A very good explanation of financial the market concepts

A very well-written,informative, and affordable (appropriately) introduction to financial markets. Covers stocks, bonds, options, derivatives. and other key financial concepts. He avoids writing in an overly technical style, but still gets the concepts across. Useful for both novies and those with some background in finance. There are 9 total chapters in the book, 275 pages total.

Surprisingly Readable

Being an armchair historian, I found this work to be highly readable and entertaining. The bibliography is exhaustive (about 100 pages), as one might expect, and their are numerous maps and genealogy tables. Despite numerous authors, it does not backtrack nor contradict itself. For a scholarly work, it is impressive for its contribution, compactness (yes, even at 1,000 pages, it could have been 1,000 more) and ease of reading.

That said, it's not for those unfamiliar with the "story" of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. It more or less assumes you're quite familiar with Suetonius, Cassius Dio, Plutarch, et al, and various long standing controversies in interpretation. So if you've read a few books on the subject, you'll be quite comfortable with this work. If you've read the Routledge and Yale Press Imperial Biography series, then this work helps with context, providing the latest (and perhaps alternative) views on current scholarship.

Don't let the price scare you off. It's well worth several other books one might consider, combined.

Nice story of woman who finds love in the old west.

This was adventure, a little mystery, romance.
Samantha, “Sam”, is an undercover detective that finds herself thrown back in time. When
she awakes she is back in history to the old West and everyone seems to look like the present day
people she knows, only they aren’t.
Sam is head strong. She is used to taking care of herself. She is not accustomed to being taken care of or not being able to go out on their own. Dev is the sheriff that finds Sam and sparks fly. It was a cute read. There is definite chemistry between Dev and Sam. There are Comanche, crazy people trying to kill people, as well as other normal incidents. It was a full story with prim and proper relations until after marriage. The spankings are light with hand and paddle. The sexual scenes between the married couples are described, but not overly graphic.
All the loose ends were tied up, the story went into a lot more story than I expected. it kept me reading and had a happy ending for the main characters.

Fun time-travel story with a better 2nd half than 1st.

Paige Mallory takes us on a time-travel adventure with Samantha (Sam) - a 1990's cop, and Devlin - an 1870's sheriff. There was a lot of action, some humorous moments, and some interesting characters. I found that I enjoyed the last half more than the first because both Devlin's and Sam's actions and emotions were all over the place in the beginning. Sam didn't seem to have much impulse control, which lead to many problems in the story. It was hard to believe that this tough as nails cop would allow anyone to spank her, let alone 2 men who she only knew for 2 days. It was also difficult to believe this experienced cop would do some of the things she did. The second half was better as more time was spent getting to know the characters and build the relationship, as well as the story. I also liked how Devlin began to respect Sam for her abilities (finally!) in the second half. We were also introduced to Mary, Trudy, and Mason - some great secondary characters. I'd love to read a spin-off about the widow Mary. Great length for this genre and an overall entertaining read.

What a great book! I loved the time travel theme and I always love a good western! I could not help but laugh out loud at Sam as she struggles to live in her current time and Dev sure had his hands full with her. A great romance blooms and I loved the ending!!

Starting with the basics (nomenclature, classification, acceleration techniques, detection of elementary particles), the properties of fundamental interactions (electromagnetic, weak and strong) are introduced with a mathematical formalism suited to undergraduate students. Some experimental results (the discovery of neutral currents and of the W± and Z0 bosons; the quark structure observed using deep inelastic scattering experiments) show the necessity of an evolution of the formalism. This motivates a more detailed description of the weak and strong interactions, of the Standard Model of the microcosm with its experimental tests, and of the Higgs mechanism. The open problems in the Standard Model of the microcosm and macrocosm are presented at the end of the book. For example, the CP violation currently measured does not explain the matter­-antimatter asymmetry of the observable universe; the neutrino oscillations and the estimated amount of cosmological dark matter seem to require new physics beyond the Standard Model. A list of other introductory texts, work reviews and some specialized publications is reported in the bibliography.

This book aims to provide the basis of theoretical foundation and phenomenological knowledge of the structure of matter at the subatomic level. It starts by presenting the general concepts at the simplest level and does not require previous knowledge of the field, except for the basic quantum mechanics. The readers are gradually introduced to the increasingly more advanced topics, so that this text can accompany students all the way to their graduate and doctoral studies in experimental high-energy physics.
Special emphasis is placed on experimental and phenomenological aspects of the field and how measurements and theory interplay in the development of particle physics. The book is based on the authors’ undergraduate and graduate lecture courses at the University of Bologna, Italy.

About the Author
Giorgio M. Giacomelli became full professor of Physics in 1971. He is (co)author of > 650 publications in scientific journals and over 350 reports and conference proceedings. He supervised 115 Laurea Theses, 30 PhD Theses.  He received prizes from the Italian Physical Society, the University of Bologna and from the A. Della Riccia Foundation. He is “Marchigiano of the year 2006”. In 1981 the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) listed him in the “1000 Contemporary Scientists Most-Cited in 1969-78". He is presently in the Highly Cited list of ISI.
He was Director of the Institute of Physics, of the Department of Physics (1975-88) and President of the Laurea in Physics Committee of the University of Bologna. He was a member of many national and international scientific committees (SPSC, LEPC and ECFA at CERN, HEP at Fermilab, of INFN, of the ENI foundation, of CTS of ENEA, bioethics of CNR, of the Galvani Committee). Presently he is Emeritus Professor at the University of Bologna, collaborator of INFN and CERN, Fellow of the American Physical Society, Socio Benemerito of the Italian Physical Society, member of the European Physical Society, of the Accademia delle Scienze di Bologna, of the New York Academy of Sciences, and the Accademia Teatina. He is one of the Editors of the Journal “Astroparticle Physics”.

Excellent primer - looking forward to an expanded 2nd edition

Excellent for putting most of particle physics together. But relativity and quantum physics are not included in particle physics presented. So I am not sure of the completeness of the material. Instantaneous properties, gravity, source of fringe patterns ... are not related to the fundamental interactions so there definitely room for another edition to be written.
